Zuni Stone or Zuni Rock is actually travertine that is mined almost exclusively for fetish carving at Zuni Pueblo, NM thereby giving it the name Zuni Stone. Its colors tend to be predominantly in the golden light-brown spectrum, but also may exhibit tones of gray, light beige, cream, and darker brown
Brandon is a member of the Zuni Tribe and lives at the pueblo. His uncle is renowned Zuni fetish carver Herb Halate. Brandon's mother is Marvellita Phillips who is also well known for her fetish carvings. Native Treasures of New Mexico offers a wide selection of not only Brandon's work but also fetish carvings from his uncle Herb, mother Marvelita and his cousins Steve Natachu, Justin Red Elk and the late Pete Natachu Jr. We offer a great selection of fetishes carved by these wonderful artists.
